About Ms. Julie

Her mother said that even at age 3, Ms. Julie was already on the piano bench, playing whatever she heard on radio or records, picking out the melody and adding harmonies.  After formal instruction from ages 5 to 18, she headed off to college to major in music, attending University of Southern Mississippi, University of North Texas, and graduate level studies at the University of Alaska – Anchorage. 

Some notable accomplishments include:

  • Founder/Director of what is now Alaska Children’s Choir
  • Pianist and Vocal Coach for Anchorage Community Chorus
  • Pianist and Vocal Coach for the Alaska Festival of Music
  • Music Coordinator/Teacher – Anchorage Community College
  • Directed ensembles of Orlando Deanery Boychoir and Girls’ Choir (Cathedral Church of St. Luke)
  • Director of Betsy Johnson Learning Center for the Performing Arts
  • Worked as a professional musician at hotels, restaurants, clubs, and many functions
  • Performed for inaugurations, diplomatic functions, for two American Presidents (George HW Bush, Ronald Reagan), with performers such as Dave Brubeck, and with conductors such as Robert Shaw, Helmuth Rilling, Gunther Schuler, John Rutter
